Originally, Dr. Chet Leathers was going to speak on “Mushrooms of Arizona,” but he had to cancel. Hopefully, we will be able to reschedule him for a later date.
In his place, Noel Fong has graciously agreed to give a new and exciting presentation on “How to Eat Mushrooms”!
Besides the pleasure of the hunt, I am sure most of you would agree that the main goal in finding mushrooms is to consume them. Noel will talk about mushrooms found in different regions of the world (Asia, Russia, Sweden, etc.) and how they are commonly prepared. Also included will be lists of flavors that go well with mushrooms, some odd pairings, and even a mention of wines that go well with various mushroom fare.
This will be a fun talk and participation is welcome! We will also have an “Open Mike” for people to share their neat mushroom recipes, fungi preparation tips, or memorable mushroom meals.
Also, as the talk will be about food, feel free to bring mushroom-themed snacks to share if you want to add to the festivity.
The meeting will be hosted in Room 101, Casa Del Prado in Balboa Park at 6:30 PM.
