Longtime SDMS member Jean Leighton passed away New Year’s Eve. She was 86. Jean was well known for her company, Impact Decorating, in which she used creativity and artistry to furnish decorations for conventions, businesses, events and parties. Jean ran Impact Decorating for more than 30 years.
Jean was very active and athletic, biking long distances and swimming in La Jolla, Ocean Beach, and San Diego Bay off Kellogg Street. “Jean was very inspirational to everyone who met her,” said Dan Remer, who worked with Jean for more than 25 years. “Lots of people admired her, and even idolized her for her courage in battling stomach cancer.”
A wake will be held at her home on Easter Sunday (March 31) any time after 11 a.m. at 1402 Willow St (between Fenelon St & Garrison St). SDMS members are invited. It will be a pot luck affair.
